Great Sacandaga Lake
Great Sacandaga Lake, spanning over 29 miles with 125 miles of shoreline, was originally created as a reservoir for flood control in 1930. Since then, the lake has been known for its sense of peace and quiet due to limited commercial development nearby. Because of this open space, many visitors gather to enjoy wakesurfing, waterskiing, and tubing with Malibu and Axis boats. But be careful in the late summer and fall, as the water level is reduced to help manage spring snowmelt.
Saratoga Lake
Just a few minutes from downtown Saratoga Springs and the historic Saratoga Racecourse, Saratoga Lake is incredibly convenient for residents and visitors. Due to its proximity to the town and smaller size (4.5 miles), it becomes a close-knit community, especially in the summers. Due to its size, not a lot of people swim or participate in watersports activities in Saratoga Lake. You’ll more often see people relaxing or fishing from their Barletta boats.
Where it All Began
Boats By George Founder and President George Pensel grew up on the east side of Lake George, where his parents Don and Mary owned Dunham’s Bay Boat Company from 1948 to 1970. Although the family sold the business in 1970, it was here in the marina and boat dealership that George’s passion for boating on Lake George grew, and where his dream of owning a marina and one day offering his own Lake George boats for sale began to take hold.
