An Awake RÄVIK is a battery-powered, jet-propelled surfboard, requiring no boat, wake, or waves needed to ride it. On Lake George’s calm morning waters, riders can reach speeds up to 34 mph (depending on model) using a wireless hand controller, making it ideal for the lake’s protected coves and no-wake zones.
The RÄVIK jetboard rides on top of the water like a traditional surfboard, just motorized. Requirements vary by device type and horsepower, and New York State boating regulations continue to evolve for personal electric watercraft. You do not currently need a traditional operating permit to ride an Awake board in New York State, but you must register your board with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and carry the registration card while riding.
